Bremerton Race Results by Gene Moon and Thomas Plante

Thank you for making our July 4th race at Bremerton a success. We had 71 total entries for the one day race, and lots of help setting up the track on Friday with hours of practice both Friday and Saturday mornings.

The scoring program and our new scoring bus all worked as expected. I want to thank Tom Plante for getting the scoring program together and working as advertised -- we didn't miss a single kart.

Dorothy Hayes and registration went great along with pre-griding and starting the races without great delays. Thank you to all who worked so hard with the picnic and those who brought all the super goodies to eat and drink.

Those who we need to thank are Paul Burtow, Russ & Martha Dyer, Gene Bemis and his son & daughter, Eric Duane, Mark, and some who I forgot to write down their names of those who stayed through Monday. Then helped to tear down the cones, hay bales, and sweep up the busted bales. These folks are the ones who are responsible for a clean track and happy racing neighbors.

Thanks to all who acted as corner workers, and to Steve Doty, Steve Plank for being tech inspectors. I know I forgot somebody else but those not mentioned you know I appreciate each and everyone who helped.

And don't forget about the races left this year!

Help Us Build Our Email List by Thomas Plante

We are trying to collect everyone's email address for distributing announcements, race results, individual times, etc. Please help us by emailing Thomas Plante at thomasp@wa.freei.net Please provide your name, current address, phone and email address. As time permits, you will be emailed your lap times and results (more detailed information that is personalized to you) after each race as a way of saying thanks for helping make the collection process easier.

Improvements Coming! by Thomas Plante

It is our goal to improve the features and benefits of being a member of Puget Sound Road Race Association (PSRRA). We want to start taking advantage of the technology available today for improved communications, greater automation, and to provide greater benefits to all members. This is why we are planning a web site, using email correspondence, using computerized timing and scoring, and similar technologies. By the way, this newsletter was put together in a hurry, so expect the one's in the future to look a lot nicer.

Web Site Under Development by Thomas Plante

We are working hard to put together a club web site. The web site will provide race results and times, current points standings, announcements, email correspondence, links, photos of participating drivers, classifieds and more. Future plans are to provide on-line race registration, on-line newsletter, and more. Again, if you can provide your email address you will receive an announcement email with a link to the new web site as soon as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience.

Volunteers Needed!

Photographer -- We are looking for an official club photographer. This person should be willing to attend the races and take pictures of the top drivers of each race and to acquire individual shots of all drivers to be used in publications, web site, results, etc. The club will provide film, camera, backdrops, etc. FYI, pit pass fee will be waived for this person.

Timing and Scoring Operators -- We need someone who is semi computer comfortable to help run the timing and scoring computers. All procedures are well documented in a custom written user's guide and should be very easy to follow. FYI, pit pass fee will be waived for this person.

Scales Operator -- We would really appreciate someone to man the scales for the races that doesn't necessarily race. This way the scales are not left unattended during a race. FYI, pit pass fee will be waived for this person.

Please contact Gene Moon at (206) 824-1764 or email at gkmoon@webtv.com (or) Thomas Plante at thomasp@wa.freei.net.

Spokane Races! by Gene Moon

Don't forget the road race at Spokane on August 27th, 28th, and 29th! Bob Mortonson has put up the fund personally for each race there in 1998 and 1999. For your information, he has lost money the last two races and if we don’t support this August race, we will lose a great track. Those who have attended races previously at Spokane liked the track and the drags Friday, Saturday and Sunday, along with the circle races. The events come with your entry fees and are lots of fun to go along with the kart races.

Stan Park, our VP Road Race (Race Director), will not be returning as the our race director for the remainder of the year. We are seeking a volunteer to fill in for the remainder of the year. Anyone interested, please call Gene Moon at (206) 824-1764 or email at gkmoon@webtv.com. Important!! We will be running timing and scoring at Spokane, so be sure to bring your transponders fully charged!!

Directions: Take I-90 to the Exit #272. Turn left across freeway, and proceed to Texaco station and turn right, proceed a block or two to South Hayford Rd. Follow South Hayford Rd North (across Hwy 2) to Sprague, turn left, track is on your right. Take the second entry into the track (gravel pit).

Hope to see all of you at Spokane or at least SIR real soon! Happy Racing!!
